The new year has just begun, and you’re already considering where to travel in 2024. After all, you work hard enough and deserve a little time off every now and then. However, it is advisable to look at your calendar to get even more vacation days (provided you don’t work on weekends and public holidays).
The ultimate overview of all 2024 window days:
The first few months are rather unfavourable for vacation planning, so you must be patient until April. You can then get your money’s worth at Easter: with just four vacation days, you can take nine days off from March 30 to April 9 (Easter Sunday falls on March 31 this year and Easter Monday on April 1).
Stuffed May
May is packed with public holidays so that you can plan quite cleverly: May 1—Labor Day—is a Wednesday; the next public holiday, Ascension Day, is on May 9 and falls on a Thursday. If you invest six vacation days here, you get 12 days off.
If you set your vacation for April 27 to May 12 (note: May 9 is a public holiday), you will even be rewarded with 16 days off, thanks to nine vacation days. You can treat yourself to two long weekends with Pentecost Monday (May 20) and Corpus Christi (May 30). Although the last public holiday falls on a Thursday, you will be rewarded with four days off if you book a vacation day.
If you take advantage of the Pentecost holidays from May 18 to June 2 and use up eight vacation days, you can relax for 16 days. As May offers a number of public holidays, you can take advantage of quite a few days off with different options.
Wait for August
The next public holiday is in August. August 15 is Assumption Day, a Thursday this year. Anyone planning a summer vacation in the high season can benefit from this: If you book from August 10 to 18, you get nine days off with just four vacation days.
Fall break
There are no public holidays in September and October (the national holiday falls on a Saturday this year), but All Saints’ Day – on November 1st offers an opportunity for a longer break: if you book your vacation days from October 28th to October 31st, you will have a total of nine days off (from October 26th to November 3rd).
Christmas relaxation
At the end of the year, the holidays are favorable: December 25 and 26 are on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. If you invest three vacation days here, you will have nine days off from December 21 to December 29. If you take the full Christmas break from December 21 to January 6, you will have 17 days off, with only seven days booked.
